Your Immune System’s Role In Chronic Illness

Your immune system is indispensable. It protects you from a whole host of invaders that could wreak havoc on your system. But sometimes your immune system becomes the problem instead of the solution.

Allergies occur when your immune system no longer tolerates the environment outside your body. Autoimmune disease, on the other hand, occurs when your immune system no longer tolerates the environment inside your body.

An exaggerated immune response is responsible for a dizzying array of chronic illnesses and autoimmune diseases from Lyme disease to multiple sclerosis to common allergies and asthma.

 What Is LDA/LDI?

LDA/LDI is a revolutionary therapy that can relieve symptoms and improve health in a wide variety of chronic conditions. LDA/LDI are extremely low-dose immunotherapies that restore your immune system’s tolerance to the environment inside and outside of your body.

The only difference between the two is that LDI is used for infections, while LDA is used for environmental triggers, including foods, molds, pollen, and chemicals. Exposure to any of these agents can cause your body to produce an exaggerated immune response, leading to chronic inflammation and system breakdown.

LDA/LDI uses mixtures of these agents – also called antigens – in extremely small doses and combines them with the enzyme beta-glucuronidase. The mixture is then injected or taken orally. The goal of this therapy is to retrain the overactive immune response to the targeted antigen.

“The results have been life changing. It's one of the most important things I do for my health.”

“I have been having LDA/LDI treatments for years and have seen significant reduction in allergies including pollen, animal danders, mold, Candida, foods, and chemicals. I’ve been able to eat foods that I hadn't eaten in years. I also believe it helped me get over an autoimmune disease (Polymyalgia Rheumatica).”

– N.L.R., Edmonds, WA

LDA/LDI can be helpful for these conditions and symptoms:

  • Allergies and asthma

  • Chronic sinus issues

  • Digestive conditions (IBS, Crohn’s, IBD)

  • Autoimmune disease

  • PANS/PANDAS

  • Chemical sensitivities

  • Lyme and related infections

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, psoriasis

In essence, any condition involving an immune system reaction or inflammatory response can improve with LDA/LDI.

“LDA/LDI has helped our family immensely.”

“My son used to be quite allergic to poison ivy. Now, if he has an exposure, it doesn’t spread all over his body and become a several-week ordeal. Also, my daughter’s sensitivity to chlorine has been drastically reduced. After swim practice, she used to sneeze a lot and find herself itching all over. Now she comes home from practice each day without any symptoms.”

 How Does LDA/LDI Work?

The goal of LDA/LDI is to restore normal immunological harmony with allergens, chemicals, foods, and even germs in your body’s ecosystem. By restoring this natural harmony, the chronic inflammation created by your immune system is calmed down and ultimately, stopped entirely.

What to Expect During Treatment

Local Reactions

You will likely experience redness, swelling, and itching at the injection site. This is normal and expected. This localized reaction should improve within 24-48 hours.

Temporary Flare

You may experience a temporary flare of symptoms following your LDA/LDI treatment, especially after the first few treatments. This is a good sign that the therapy will work well as we progress in treatments. Your HHA physician will help you manage any symptoms you experience.

Long-Term

As you progress through LDA/LDI, you’ll gradually notice that you’re able to tolerate more things. You might start eating certain foods without the unpleasant GI symptoms you had before. Or you may be able to walk through the grocery store without getting a headache on the cleaning aisle. Keep your doctor informed of changes you notice, both positive and negative, so your treatment can be tailored accordingly.

 Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will I notice results?

Like most things, results are highly individual. Some patients feel better immediately. It’s not uncommon to notice a worsening of your symptoms for a few days after LDA/LDI treatment. This is actually a good sign. Your symptoms should gradually improve over several days. LDA/LDI is a cumulative treatment, so improvements will continue to build over months and years.

Is LDA/LDI covered by insurance?

Sometimes. We’ll provide you with a superbill so you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement of any services your plan might cover. Reimbursement varies and is dependent on each unique insurer and plan selected. There is no guarantee for reimbursement of service fee. Services are payable by cash or credit upon checkout.

If you have questions, please contact your insurance, HSA, or FSA provider for further information. For a helpful list of questions to ask your insurance provider, download our Insurance Worksheet.

How much does it cost?
