What Is Nutritional Therapy?

In Nutritional Therapy we’ll carefully evaluate your health history, dietary, and lifestyle patterns to discover how we can best support optimal function through nutrition. Then we will collaborate on a plan to make delicious, accessible and practical changes that fit into your unique lifestyle, to ensure a sustainable path forward toward vitality. There is no cookie cutter diet that works for everyone, your plan will be unique to you.

A nutrient-dense diet provides your body with the building blocks and cofactors necessary to produce energy, heal tissues, fight infections, and think clearly. Eliminating foods and habits that interrupt important metabolic pathways can be just as powerful as adding in essential nutrients. You’ll learn how to notice how foods affect you, and adjust your meals and habits accordingly. Nutritional Therapy goes beyond what to eat, to how, when, and why. You’ll see just how powerful small, incremental changes can be.

Dawn helped me most with learning the best ways to fuel my body and brain, learning how to be kind to myself, and getting me to actually eat vegetables. As a result of this experience I now consume far less sugar, processed food, and take-out food than before, while still enjoying what I eat ”

Dawn Wheeler, Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

Personal experience with chronic illness has made me passionate about whole-food nutrition and holistic health. I educate clients on how to listen to their bodies and nourish themselves through food and lifestyle using practical and accessible tools. My purpose is to empower clients toward lasting, positive change.

I received my training from the Nutritional Therapy Association, a program that focuses on evidence-based dietary practices rooted in cultural food traditions that enhance the bioavailability of nutrients, and emphasizes the bio-individuality of each person. The modern food environment is almost unrecognizable from the one our ancestors evolved in. We can learn a lot from traditions like seasonal eating, periodic fasting, sprouting and fermenting.

My approach is to harness the wisdom of these traditions and the latest research, while adapting them to our lives in a practical way. I’ll invite you to brainstorm ideas along with me so we can come up with a system of nourishing yourself that works for you in the long-term. You will gain new confidence in your ability to tune into and take care of your body without a strict and impractical diet.

Nutritional Therapy can support:

What to expect from a Nutritional Therapy session

In my 1 hour session, we will sit down for an in-depth conversation about your health history, diet, and lifestyle. We’ll see how elements of your lifestyle are contributing to your health concerns, and look for practical adjustments that can be made to address them. In the end, you’ll walk away with some actionable recommendations that you can put into practice right away. After our chat, if you feel you need a deeper dive and longer-term support, we can discuss my 3-month coaching program as an option.
